Toy Drive Led by Year 10 Students

Hello Epsom Community,
I’m Rayyan R., alongside my Year 10 teammates Nexus K. and Qaid C., we are happy to share an update on our Toy Donation initiative, which ran from June 9th to 23rd, 2025.
Our goal is to bring joy to underprivileged children aged 5-17 who have experienced abuse and neglect. We focused on collecting both new and preloved, age-appropriate toys in good condition for Rumah Hope in PJ and Rumah K.I.D.S in USJ.
In less than a week, we collected 286 toys, which were promptly delivered to Rumah Hope, PJ on June 14th, 2025. By the time the campaign ended, we had gathered over 400 toys! Thank you Epsom Community for your unwavering support!
Our visit to Rumah Hope was truly rewarding. We spent quality time with the children, helping them assemble Hot Wheels tracks, allowing them to choose their own toys and enjoying a lively sing-along.
One of our key objectives for this project was to support Rumah Hope’s Carnival Sale on June 21st, 2025. The proceeds from this carnival will establish an education fund for nine children from Rumah Hope who are starting college.
On June 21st, we had the privilege to run a toy booth at Rumah Hope’s carnival. This experience reinforced the importance of supporting every child’s right to education. It was also truly heartwarming to reconnect with the children we had met the previous week.
During our visit, a caregiver at Rumah Hope shared that they are one of the few orphanages licensed by Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) to shelter Orang Asli children. Both Rumah Hope and Rumah K.I.D.S also aligned with key legal frameworks which includes the Child Act 2001, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), the Safe Place Regulations 2007 and the Care Centers Act 1993. Our visit to Rumah K.I.D.S, USJ will be scheduled before the end of the school year.
In conclusion, engaging in charity offers a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment. Its beauty lies in its inclusivity which is, anyone can contribute and make a difference. We hope our initiative inspires others to get involved and experience the powerful ripple effect of giving back.
Thank you again Epsom Community, for wholeheartedly supporting this meaningful cause!
Last but not least, a special thank you to our parents who supported, drove and joined us at Rumah Hope, PJ. We really appreciate it!
