Bronze International Award Assessed Journey – A Real Adventure in the Cameron Highlands

Our Bronze-level International Award participants recently completed their Assessed Adventurous Journey with great success and enthusiasm. Over the course of two days, students hiked more than 25 km through the breathtaking tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands and descended into the surrounding jungle, navigating a variety of challenging terrains. They reached the highest airstrip in Malaysia and passed through remote Orang Asli villages, adding cultural depth to their experience.
The challenge began even earlier than usual, with participants camping the night before the official start of the expedition—an additional test of their resilience and organisation at Bronze level. Throughout the journey, they demonstrated excellent teamwork and independence. Complex meals, including full English breakfasts, flavourful curries, and pasta dishes, were cooked from scratch. Their campcraft was equally commendable, with tents pitched efficiently and a remarkably positive attitude towards wilderness toilet facilities.
Set against the stunning backdrop of misty highland trails and tropical rainforest, this expedition was a true adventure. Participants returned tired but proud, in high spirits and full of stories from the trail. Many are already expressing excitement about progressing to the Silver Award, inspired by this memorable and rewarding experience.
Congratulations to all participants on successfully completing their Assessed Journey and for so brilliantly representing the spirit of the International Award.
