Monash University Malaysia Campus Visit

On 4 February, 105 Year 12 and Year 13 students and 6 teachers embarked on an enriching visit to Monash University Malaysia. The campus visit aimed to broaden students’ awareness of higher education opportunities and university life. Through campus tours, workshops, and interactions with the university facilitators, students gained valuable insights into academic expectations and future study pathways.

Upon arrival at the university, we were ushered into the university’s theatre for an engaging introduction to Monash University. The session outlined the institution’s academic offerings and distinctive advantages. The presentation emphasised international exchange opportunities with affiliated universities worldwide, broadening students’ perspectives on global education pathways.

Following the briefing, students were divided into groups to participate in specialised workshops in Business, Engineering, and Medicine & Allied Health faculties. In the Business workshop, students explored economic decision-making through the concept of the Prisoner’s Dilemma and gained insights into marketing strategies through interactive activities. The Engineering sessions introduced students to biodiesel production using waste oil, as well as hands-on challenges involving servo control systems and gait analysis technology. Meanwhile, the Medicine & Allied Health workshop provided an immersive experience in clinical skills, where students practised checking vital signs, conducting simple diagnostic tests, and engaging in role-play scenarios.

These workshops offered practical exposure beyond textbook learning, allowing students to experience university-level facilities and teaching approaches first-hand. Overall, the visit to Monash University Malaysia was both informative and inspiring. Students gained a clearer understanding of academic pathways, global mobility opportunities, and the practical applications of different disciplines. The experience not only broadened their horizons but also encouraged them to reflect on their future aspirations and educational goals with greater confidence and motivation.
