Journey as Heads of College

Transformative. That is how we would describe our year as the Heads of College. We have seen our team (and ourselves!) grow in ways that we cannot properly describe, and we are very lucky to have had such an amazing team. We learnt of our strengths and weaknesses, and how to work under pressure (amongst other things).

We think that the main misconception when it comes to prefects and leadership is that we all have it figured out from Day 1. That is never the case. The main (best) part about taking on leadership roles is the fact that we are never perfect, and that we will make mistakes and grow from them. There have been countless times where we have found ourselves having stepped too out of line, or we could have delivered a point better, and we take that into account and fix it for the next time. We think that coming to terms with the fact that we all have to grow into these roles was one of the best learning experiences we had here.

In addition to that, we had the privilege of seeing our team carry out projects that have benefitted the school immensely. From Epsom Union sparking debate and literacy amongst the Senior School students, to the Short Film engaging the Sixth Form creatively, we have seen an abundance of projects that ultimately benefit the school community. Through this, we aim to foster a community that encourages one another to grow and develop, and is fearless in their undertaking of endeavours, be it academic or creative.

It has been a wonderful experience and we are truly grateful for the honour of being able to lead and to represent the bustling student body of Epsom College Malaysia. We hope as we leave that our commitment to creating a big family, one that can always depend on each other, one that can always have each other’s back, will be upheld and echoed throughout these walls. We hope we have left a tangible legacy. For who are we, if not the marks we leave behind?
