How Do You Support The Heads of College in Duties?

This year, serving as Deputy Heads of College has allowed us to play a part in moments that define student life for Epsomians. Working closely with the Heads of College has also given us the opportunity to better understand the responsibilities that come with student leadership. As Epsom continues to grow and expand its influence, we too are learning to grow alongside it, taking on new challenges and contributing to the wider school community.

One of the key ways we support the Heads of College is by helping to coordinate projects that capture the shared moments of the school community. Throughout the year, we have been overseeing the Yearbook Committee to ensure that the publication reflects the spirit and achievements of students across Epsom. From managing student contributions to discussing themes and layouts, the process involves collaboration with different prefect departments so that the yearbook becomes a meaningful record of the academic year and the memories created within the Epsom community.

Alongside this, we are currently working with the Social Prefects and several fellow students to organise the Year 13 Prom, one of the most anticipated events marking the final chapter of our time at school. Following discussions with Friends of Epsom, we are in the process of finalising the theme and planning the overall atmosphere of the evening. Our goal is to ensure that the prom becomes a memorable celebration where the graduating cohort can come together and reflect on their shared experiences before moving on to the next stage of their journeys.

At the same time, preparations for graduation are also underway. Supporting the Heads of College in organising this important occasion involves assisting with elements of the ceremony so that the event properly recognises the achievements of the Class of 2026, including university acceptances and the completion of A-Levels examinations, creating a well-deserved conclusion to our time at Epsom.

Serving as Deputy Heads of College has been a meaningful and rewarding experience for us. Through supporting key initiatives and working closely with different prefect teams, we have gained valuable insight into leadership and collaboration within the Epsom community. Although our time at Epsom is coming to an end, we remain committed to making the most of the time we have left and continuing to contribute positively to the school community.
