Highlights from Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia

The momentum has continued to build at Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia. Over the past few weeks, our players have continued to step onto bigger stages, compete across Malaysia and Asia, and experience what it means to be part of a growing tennis environment here at Epsom College Malaysia.

From the SUKMA Games and ATF tournaments to the international ITF circuit, our student-athletes are gaining valuable experience and, more importantly, beginning to create their own stories within Malaysian tennis.

Making an Impact at SUKMA 2026

Two of our Malaysian student-athletes had the opportunity to compete at the SUKMA Games 2026, representing their respective states at one of Malaysia’s biggest multi-sport events.

Jacob W. represented Sarawak and finished 4th in the Men’s Doubles, while Aqil A. helped his team secure the Gold Medal in the Men’s Team event.

For us, these results represent much more than medals and placings. It is a significant milestone for our young Malaysian student-athletes to compete at this level and experience the pressure, atmosphere and responsibility that come with representing their states at SUKMA.

These are the experiences that help prepare our players for the next level of their development, and we are proud to see them taking these opportunities.

Malaysian Tennis Making History

There is also an exciting story unfolding much closer to home.

Our MAM resident athlete, Mitsuki Leong, who is currently the No. 1-ranked men’s tennis player in Malaysia, has reached a career-high ATP ranking of 421.

This is a historic moment for Malaysian tennis, and being able to watch this journey develop right here at Epsom College Malaysia makes it even more special for everyone at the academy.

Having a player competing at this level and training alongside our coaches and players gives our community a unique opportunity to see what the pathway can look like at the highest level. It is also a reminder that Malaysian tennis is continuing to move forward, and that the next generation of players can dream bigger. To be part of this journey, and to witness history being made in our own backyard, is something we are extremely proud of.

Our Tennis & School Players Take on Asia

Our Tennis & School Programme players have also been busy competing on the Asian Tennis Federation circuit, gaining valuable international experience at the ATF 14&U in Bangkok, Thailand.

Four of our players represented the academy:

• Mei U.

• Seina M.

• Jacob W.

• Shinnosuke K.

Mei produced an outstanding performance, finishing 3rd in Singles and 2nd in Doubles. Jacob also reached 3rd place in both Singles and Doubles. Shinnosuke and Seina continued to gain valuable experience at this level, finishing 18th and 13th respectively.

For young players, these international tournaments are about more than the final result. They provide an opportunity to compete against different playing styles, experience new environments and learn how to perform under pressure away from home.

Strong Performances at ATF Melaka

The ATF 14&U circuit then came closer to home, with 13 of our Tennis & School Programme players competing in Melaka, Malaysia. The group produced a number of strong results across both Singles and Doubles.

Singles

• Mei U. – 4th place

• Jacob W. – 5th place

• Shinnosuke K. – 6th place

• Hyoju L. – 6th place

Doubles

• Hyoju L. & Mei U. – Champions

• Jacob W. & Shinnosuke K. – 3rd place

While these were the standout results, every player who travelled to Melaka contributed to what was a positive tournament experience. Many of our players achieved personal-best results, competed in matches they had not experienced before and showed the confidence to keep fighting throughout the tournament.

Those small steps are an important part of the development journey. Results are one measure of progress, but confidence, resilience and the ability to compete are equally important for our young players.

The International Journey Continues

The international competition continues, as three of our players competed on the ITF circuit in Vietnam.

Ha-An P., Nala Josephine M. and Aqil A. represented MAM on the international stage, continuing to gain experience against players from different countries and tennis backgrounds.

For our Tennis & School Programme, opportunities like these are an important part of the pathway we are building. We want our players to experience competition at different levels, from local and national events through to regional and international tournaments.

More Tennis, More Opportunities

And there is still plenty more happening at Epsom College Malaysia.

With our UTR events, our upcoming Scholarship Camp and the ITF J100 tournament taking place here at Epsom, the courts will continue to be a busy place over the coming weeks.

These events bring competitive tennis directly to our home environment and give our players the chance to watch, learn and compete alongside players from different levels and backgrounds.

There will be many more events, tournaments and activities happening on the ground at Epsom, and we want our wider academy community to be part of it. The journey continues on our home courts, across Malaysia and throughout Asia.
