This past month marked one of the busiest and most rewarding stretches on our academy calendar. As the summer break arrived, the courts at Epsom College Malaysia were rarely quiet. Our Signature Summer Camps ran back to back over three to six weeks, welcoming at least sixty players every single week. Alongside the camps, we were proud to host two significant events on the regional junior tennis circuit, giving our players invaluable competitive exposure right at home.
Signature Summer Camps
Our Signature Summer Camps ran continuously throughout the break, combining technical training blocks with match play and UTR-rated tournaments to give every player a genuine competitive benchmark. With more than sixty children on court each week, the camps brought together players of different ages and levels, all working through a structured programme built around technical refinement, movement, and match craft. The energy on site throughout the summer was a clear reflection of the growing tennis community we are building here in Malaysia, and we were glad to see so many familiar faces return week after week alongside a steady stream of newcomers to the sport.
ITF J30 Selangor
Epsom College Malaysia had the honour of hosting the ITF J30 Selangor, bringing international junior competition to our home courts. Tournaments of this calibre are a rare opportunity for our players to test themselves against strong opposition from across the region without leaving the academy, and the week delivered exactly that: high-quality tennis, tightly contested matches, and a great deal learned by everyone involved, on and off the court. The highest achievements from our MAM at Epsom College Malaysia players at this event were:
- Shivali G.: Girls Singles 18&U Champion
- Nala M.: Girls Singles 18&U Semi Finalist
- Ha-An P.: Girls Singles 18&U Quarter Finalist
- Ha-An P. & Nala M.: Girls Doubles 18&U Semi finalist
ATF Grade A 14&U Circuit
We also hosted the ATF Grade A 14&U Circuit, one of the region’s most competitive age-group events, drawing a strong international field to Epsom College Malaysia. Many of Asia’s top 14&U players competed in this event, including the No. 1 Boys in Asia and No. 2 Girls in Asia, both of whom went on to clinch their respective titles. One of the standout performances were from our own student, Mei U. of Japan, who fought her way through a draw of 32 to finish in the last seven.. A superb result at this level of competition. She was far from alone in making an impression. A number of our own players also produced strong runs through the draw, picking up valuable ranking points and match experience that will stand to them across the rest of the season.
New Tennis & School Programme
As we move into the new term, we are excited to launch our new Tennis & School Programme, starting the first week of school. The programme has been restructured into two distinct pathways.
- High Performance Programme – for players who are committed to a more intensive training and competitive pathway.
- Development Programme – replacing our previous Flagship and Fundamental Programmes, providing structured training and development for players who want to continue improving their tennis.
We are looking forward to welcoming both existing and new players into this next chapter.
Looking Ahead
Having hosted UTR, ITF, and ATF events all within the same summer, alongside a packed camps programme, this has been a landmark stretch for the academy. The exposure our players gained, both from the volume of matches played and the calibre of opposition faced, will be felt throughout the rest of the season. With this strong platform behind us, we now turn our attention to the tournaments ahead and look forward to seeing the same commitment and progress carried onto the regional and international stages.
