Student Leaders Impact Day

On 2 March, the new Epsom College Malaysia Prefects took part in an engaging leadership training workshop conducted by Global Edge, UK. Built around the theme “Building your Student Leadership Legacy,” the programme focused on developing key skills such as communication, problem-solving, resilience, and adaptability. Through a series of interactive and hands-on activities, students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and grow into confident, capable leaders.

A major highlight of the training was the emphasis on effective communication. Through interactive networking activities and pitching exercises, students explored how to express their ideas with clarity, confidence, and purpose. They were introduced to practical techniques such as maintaining strong body language, engaging their audience, and communicating with intention, learning that people connect more with the “why” behind a message. These sessions not only enhanced their public speaking skills but also strengthened connections among peers.

The programme also placed a strong emphasis on problem-solving and teamwork. Students participated in a range of dynamic challenges that required them to think critically and collaborate under pressure. By applying structured approaches, such as identifying root causes, exploring creative solutions, and evaluating impact, they gained a clearer understanding of how to tackle real-world and school-based issues. Activities like the blindfold challenge highlighted the importance of trust, communication, and stepping beyond one’s comfort zone.

Equally important was the focus on resilience and adaptability. Through team-based tasks, students experienced setbacks and were encouraged to reflect, adjust their strategies, and persevere. They were also introduced to simple frameworks to help them respond creatively to change, reinforcing the idea that effective leadership requires flexibility and a willingness to keep improving.

Overall, the Global Edge leadership training was a valuable and enriching experience for all new prefects. By combining practical activities with meaningful reflection, the programme equipped students with the skills and mindset needed to lead with confidence and purpose. It has laid a strong foundation for them to contribute positively to the school community and to grow as impactful student leaders.
