At Mouratoglou Academy Malaysia (MAM) at Epsom College Malaysia, our commitment to developing high-performance student-athletes continues to be reflected through consistent exposure to both international competition and structured in-house tournaments. March was a particularly demanding and rewarding period, with our players competing across multiple continents while maintaining strong performances within our home programme.
International Tour: ITF J100 Australia (6–23 March 2026)
As part of our long-term player development pathway, Shivali G. and Haqim K. embarked on a competitive tour in Australia, participating in consecutive J100 events. Competing at this level requires not only technical and tactical ability, but also physical resilience, mental strength, and the capacity to adapt to different playing conditions week after week.
At the ITF J100 Mornington:
- Shivali G. reached the 3rd round (singles) and quarter-finals (doubles)
- Haqim K. reached the 2nd round (singles) and quarter-finals (doubles)
At the ITF J100 Canberra:
- Shivali G. delivered an outstanding performance, reaching the quarter-finals (singles) and semi-finals (doubles)
- Haqim K. reached the 2nd round (singles)
This tour marked an important progression step, particularly in Shivali G.’s ability to compete deeper into draws at higher-level ITF events. For both players, competing across back-to-back tournaments provided invaluable experience.
Building Competitive Depth: UTR Weekend Competition III (21–22 March 2026)
Back on campus, MAM hosted another successful UTR event, welcoming 113 participants across various competitive categories. These competitions remain a key part of our programme, ensuring players consistently apply training concepts under match conditions.
Main Draw Highlights:
- Moses L. – Junior I Champion
- Kaiyu L. – Junior III.5 Champion
- Sirui J. – Runner-up
- Antonio D. – 2nd runner-up
Quarter-finalists:
- Kanza I. – Junior II
The depth of participation and results reflects the strength of our development structure, particularly in the junior categories where players are progressing steadily through the competitive pathway.
Performance Pathway in Action: UTR Challenger Series I (27–29 March 2026)
Following this, MAM organised the UTR Challenger Series I, with 64 participants, providing another level of structured competition bridging junior and open categories.
Main Draw Results:
- Aqil A. – Open Category I Champion
- Shivali G. – Open Category I Runner-up
- Matthieu F. – Junior I Champion
- Jiwoo H. – Junior I Runner-up
- Seina M. – Junior II Runner-up
- Kazuna M. – 4th place
Back Draw Highlights:
- Ha-An P. – Open Category I Back Draw Champion
- Rishvan I. – 2nd runner-up
- Kuangyi X. – 2nd runner-up
Side Draw Results:
- Glenn T. – Runner-up
- Chloe M. – Runner-up
This event clearly demonstrated the importance of providing multiple competitive opportunities (main, back and side draws), ensuring all players gain meaningful match play regardless of early-round results. This structure is critical in building confidence, resilience and match awareness.
National Representation: ATF Development Championship Selection
We are also proud to highlight a significant milestone for two of our players, who have been selected to represent their respective countries at the ATF Development Championship:
- Jacob W. – selected to represent Malaysia
- Kanza I. – selected to represent the Maldives
This recognition reflects not only their individual performance levels, but also their consistency, discipline and progression within the programme. Representing one’s country is an important step in a player’s pathway and reinforces the international standard we aim to develop at MAM.
March reflects exactly what we aim to achieve at MAM: a balance between international exposure and consistent in-house competition. While our top players continue to test themselves on the global stage, our broader group benefits from a structured competitive environment that supports long-term progression. What stands out most is not only the results, but the consistency of performance across different levels, from junior categories to open divisions, and from local tournaments to ITF events abroad. This alignment is essential in building a sustainable high-performance programme.
As we move into the next phase of the season, our focus remains on refining performance, managing competition schedules effectively, and ensuring each player continues to develop with clarity, purpose and confidence.
