This term has been a busy and exciting one for us at the Academy. From a closely contested Matchplay League to our transition into the GOLFZON Leadbetter Academy, there has been plenty happening both on and off the course. With our Matchplay Final approaching and students preparing for an international event, it has been a strong finish to the term.
Our term-long Matchplay League has been the tightest and most competitive yet. After competitive group stages, the top two players from each Pool (A and B) advanced to the semi-finals, which took place on Monday 2 March. Well done to James Y., Adrianna S., Afham O. and Sean C. for qualifying.
The matches were tight, as expected. James Y. secured a 2&1 win against Sean C., demonstrating strong course management throughout. In the other semi-final, Afham O. and Adrianna S. played a closely contested match that went to a play-off, where Afham O. managed to edge ahead. The final will take place on Wednesday 11 March at Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club, with Afham O. and James Y. competing over 18 holes. Great prizes sponsored by Mizuno, along with a beautiful trophy, await the winner of this term’s Matchplay League.
It has also been a very positive term overall, particularly with our transition to the GOLFZON Leadbetter Academy. Looking ahead, nine academy students and two non-academy students are preparing to compete at FOBISIA Golf 2026, which will take place in Manila from 15–19 March. The players competing are Adrianna S., Afham O., Danish J., Tomo K., Chengxiang H., Seohyun C., Ken M., Xingyu L., Sean C., Zoe H.-W., and Zaq H.-W.. We are proud to see such strong representation and wish them all the very best for the competition ahead.
