Epsom College Malaysia’s O15 Boys Basketball team has put together an outstanding season so far, compiling a 10–2 record and consistently representing the school with pride, intensity, and teamwork. The squad recently captured the silver medal at the KLSL tournament and has secured a number of impressive victories against strong international school programmes across Malaysia.
A major highlight of the season came at the KLSL tournament, where the team competed against a strong field of international schools and finished with an impressive silver medal. Along the way, Epsom delivered dominant performances against several well-known opponents, including Oasis International School, King Henry VIII College, Asia Pacific International School, and Taylor’s International School. The team’s fast-paced style of play, defensive pressure, and unselfish ball movement have been key factors in these victories.
One of the most exciting moments of the season came in a dramatic matchup against Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ). After trailing by more than ten points in the third quarter, the team showed tremendous resilience to battle back in the closing minutes. With just 20 seconds remaining, Year 12 guard Yongnian Z. calmly hit the game-winning shot, completing an incredible comeback and securing a memorable victory for Epsom.
The team has been led throughout the season by Year 13 standout guard Bryan W., and Year 11 centre Qicheng Z., whose scoring, playmaking, and leadership have set the tone on both ends of the court. They have been strongly supported by senior leaders including Year 12 students Cheuk L., Yongnian Z., and Mahaliana R., alongside Year 13’s Chao L.. Their commitment in training and willingness to support one another has helped build a strong team culture and a competitive spirit within the squad.
With the AIMS tournament approaching, the team is eager to build on its strong season and continue competing at a high level against some of the top schools in the region. Regardless of the results, this season has already been a fantastic step forward for Epsom College Malaysia basketball, as our student-athletes continue to train hard and proudly represent the school on and off the court.
