Year 11 Students Take The Lead at The Sixth Form Fair

This week, our Year 11 students stepped confidently into the next stage of their academic journey as they attended the school’s annual Sixth Form Fair, an inspiring event designed to help them make informed and ambitious choices.

Held in the Grayling Centre, the fair brought together Heads of Department from across the school, each showcasing their subjects through course guidance, and personal insights into what studying their subject offers. From the rigour of Mathematics to the creativity of Art, the analytical depth of Psychology to the global perspective of Business and Economics, every subject area was represented with energy and expertise.

What truly distinguished this year’s fair was the active engagement of our Year 11 cohort. Students arrived with thoughtful questions, exploring not only the academic expectations of each course but also how different subjects could shape their future aspirations, university pathways, and career ambitions. Many took the opportunity to have one-to-one conversations with teachers, delving deeper into assessment structures, required skills, and the realities of managing a Sixth Form workload.

Heads of Department were impressed by the maturity and curiosity shown. “The calibre of questions was fantastic,” one HoD reflected. “Students weren’t just asking about grades or content, they wanted to know how these subjects link to industry, global issues, and their long-term goals.”

The fair also highlighted the school’s commitment to personalised guidance. Staff were on hand to offer bespoke advice, helping students reflect on their strengths, interests, and future plans. For many Year 11s, the event sparked clarity and excitement, turning uncertainty into inspiration.

It is clear that these year 11 students are ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. Their enthusiasm, combined with the support of dedicated teachers, ensures they are well equipped to choose pathways that will stretch, motivate, and empower them.
