University Application Updates

As we approach the end of another busy and productive term, it has been inspiring to see our Year 13 students making excellent progress with their university applications. A number of strong early offers have already come in across a wide range of subjects and destinations, reflecting both the hard work of our students and the support they have received from teachers and tutors throughout the process.

We are especially pleased to share that five of our seven Oxbridge applicants have been invited to interview this year. This is an exceptional achievement and speaks volumes about the academic commitment and intellectual curiosity these students have demonstrated over time. We are also delighted that students applying to other competitive courses and institutions have been invited to interview, including HKUST, Sheffield (Medicine) and Imperial College London (Medicine). We look forward to supporting them as they prepare for the next stages of their applications.

For those students who have not yet submitted their UCAS application, this is an important reminder to do so as soon as possible. Although the official UCAS deadline is January 14, we strongly advise students to submit no later than 10 January. UCAS typically experiences heavy traffic in the days leading up to the final deadline, and early submission is recommended to avoid potential website issues.

Looking ahead, our Year 12 students have recently been asked to indicate their early university plans and areas of interest via a form provided by the Academic Prefects. Gathering this information at this time allows us to tailor the guidance, workshops and resources we provide throughout Year 12 and Year 13, ensuring that each student receives the right level of support at the right time. Parents are always welcome to get in touch with the Higher Education and Careers team if they would like to discuss their child’s plans or seek further advice. Please email anna.macleod@epsomcollege.edu.my to arrange an appointment.

We also warmly invite all Year 12 parents to join our upcoming Parent Workshop on University Applications on Thursday, 26 February 2026 via Zoom. This session will offer practical guidance on timelines, the support provided by the school, and what we expect from students at each stage. We will also explore the differences between holistic and academically focused admissions, and how these approaches vary across destinations. We will also spend some time discussing applying to selective universities, identifying best-fit institutions, preparing for admissions tests, and accessing useful resources including the Unifrog platform. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session for any further questions.
