Supporting Mental Wellbeing Together at Epsom College Malaysia

Epsom College Malaysia celebrated Mental Health Week from 6th to 10th October with the theme “Supporting Mental Wellbeing Together.” The week was filled with engaging and meaningful activities that encouraged students and staff to reflect on their mental health, build resilience, and foster a caring community. From assemblies to therapy groups and the exciting Colour Run, the week promoted positivity, understanding, and togetherness.

The week began with an inspiring assembly by Mr Andrew Thompson, who spoke about the importance of mental health and how we can all support one another. On Tuesday, therapy groups focused on “Adjustment & Surviving Boarding,” offering students valuable tools and strategies to navigate the challenges of boarding life. Throughout the week, positive words and affirmations were distributed to students and staff, brightening lunchtimes with encouraging messages of hope and kindness.

Tutor times and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) lessons explored the topic of bullying, prompting thoughtful discussions about empathy, inclusion, and standing up for others. The Prep School also joined in the celebration, holding lessons on the mind-body connection and self-control, while participating in the Colour Run. Ms Chen delivered an insightful assembly on “Managing Big Feelings,” helping students learn healthy ways to process emotions. A special thanks goes to Ms Pajan and the Wellbeing Prefects for their incredible effort and leadership throughout the week.

A highlight of the week was the annual Colour Run held on Wednesday, 8th October. The event was a burst of colour, laughter, and energy – students and staff ran, danced, and celebrated wellbeing together.

Mental Health Week 2025 was a wonderful reminder of the power of community and compassion at Epsom College Malaysia. The joy seen during the Colour Run and the thoughtful conversations throughout the week reflected the school’s dedication to supporting wellbeing. Though the colour from the colour run may fade, we hope the sense of unity, positivity, and care it created continues to brighten our days ahead.
