Reflections & Priorities for the Term Ahead

At Epsom, we take pride in continuously reflecting on how best to support our students so that every learner has the opportunity to thrive. As we step into a new academic year, our focus is on strengthening student support, broadening academic pathways, and celebrating the remarkable achievements of our learners across all year groups.
One of our key reflections from the past academic year has been the importance of student support. Traditionally, in Term 1, our focus has been on Year 13 students preparing for their final examinations. This year, however, we are extending structured support to Year 9 and Year 11 students. By embedding this into our CCA programme, we aim to raise outcomes earlier and provide personalised guidance at these crucial stages of learning.
We are also proud to announce the launch of alternative pathways through the BTEC programme at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. This exciting development ensures that students can pursue qualifications that align with their individual strengths and aspirations. Whether blending BTEC with IGCSE or A Levels, or focusing on a single route, our students now enjoy greater flexibility. This reflects our strong commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind and that every learner is supported in finding the pathway best suited to them.
This year also marks our first KS3 bonding trip to Sandakan, a fantastic opportunity for students to develop friendships, teamwork, and independence beyond the classroom. We also recognise that the world is constantly evolving, which is why we have integrated AI learning into our PSHE curriculum to ensure our students remain informed and future-ready. In addition, we have listened to your feedback and are in the process of building a new weekend programme designed to further engage, enrich, and support our students.
As we look ahead, our priority remains clear: to nurture, challenge, and support every student. By combining early intervention, diversified academic pathways, and holistic enrichment opportunities, we are confident our learners will continue to grow and succeed. With renewed energy and determination, we are excited for the term ahead and look forward to celebrating many more achievements from our remarkable students.
