Qaid’s Summer of Polo: From Hard Work to International Glory

While most of us were enjoying some downtime over the summer holidays, Year 11 student Qaid C., Propert House was putting in the hours, 6 of them a day, to be exact. His mornings were spent riding to perfect his balance and control, and his afternoons were filled with stick-and-ball sessions and fast-paced chukkas to sharpen his hitting and tactical play.

All that hard work paid off when Qaid C. stepped onto the field at the 4th Malaysia Youth Polo Tournament (4MYPT), representing the UK against some of the best young polo players from around the world. What made his achievement even more impressive is that Qaid C. hadn’t played much polo over the past two years but his dedication over the summer brought him right back to top form.

On top of his training, Qaid C. also gained his first work experience with an internship at the Kuala Lumpur Academy of Polo, where he learned not only about the sport but also the discipline and reality of a working environment.

Reflecting on the tournament, Qaid C. told the New Straits Times: ”It has been a great honour to be part of this tournament, and competing at this level has inspired me to keep pushing myself further.”

Qaid’s story shows just how far passion and perseverance can take you and it’s an inspiring reminder for all of us to make the most of the opportunities we’re given. His journey reflects the Epsom spirit of resilience, balance, and striving for excellence both in and out of the classroom.
