MTA May Updates & Highlights

UTR Challenger Series I
Epsom College Malaysia was proud to host the first UTR Challenger Series I of 2025 from 10th to 12th May. Organised by MTA @ Epsom, this was the first Challenger Series event of the year and introduced a unique tournament format—the Compass Draw Format. This format was new to many participants, as it is rarely used in local / international tournaments. Thanks to the enthusiastic response and excellent organisation, the event was a success, attracting a strong turnout of 80 players.
The tournament featured numerous thrilling and nail-biting matches, making it a truly exciting performance from all the participants in the tournament. One standout match was the Open Clay (6+ UTR) Category final, where MTA @ Epsom’s very own player, Aqil A. faced Yugantaarshwar G., currently ranked in the top 5 of the Malaysia National Men’s Rankings. Aqil rose to the occasion, displaying exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and discipline, securing a straight-sets victory of 6-3, 6-2.
In addition to Aqil’s impressive performance, many of our other players including Yordan T., Taishi K., Isaac C., and many more delivered superb performances in their respective categories, showing determination and a high level of competitiveness throughout the tournament. Every player fought with heart from start to finish, and their efforts were truly commendable.
We are thrilled to announce that our MTA players delivered outstanding performances across several categories:

Junior 1 East Draw

Junior 3 East Draw
