KL Junior Maths Challenge

On Saturday 17th May, 12 students from Year 7 and 8 participated in the KL Junior Maths Challenge. This annual competition brings together young mathematicians from various schools in and around KL to engage in challenging and collaborative problem-solving activities.
Epsom fielded four teams: ‘The Powerful Primes’ (Edric L., Ella K., Adam T.); ‘The Number Ninjas’ (Yuqin C., You L., Keith N.); ‘The Solution Squad’ (Arjan P., Michael Y., Mason L.’ The competition featured four rounds: an individual round; a construction round; a game show round and the ‘Dragon Maths’ round. The students are familiar with Dragon Maths due to this forming part of the Inter-House Maths competition at Epsom. The construction round was new and The Solution Squad can be seen here with their building.
Throughout the event, the Epsom learning characteristics were on fine display; Epsom students demonstrated resilience, creativity and collaboration. They were rewarded with the following accolades: Edric L. obtained 7th place in the individual round out of 74 Year 7 students. His team, The Powerful Primes, placed 4th out of 28 teams. The Solution Squad also placed 4th out of 27 teams. A really impressive performance from our students, well done to all involved!
