A Positive and Energetic Start to Term in Carr House

The new term has begun with great energy and enthusiasm in Carr House, and it has been wonderful to see our Year 5-9 boys settle back into school life with such positivity. From the very first day, the boys have shown a strong sense of community, responsibility, and genuine excitement to be back together again.

As this is my first term as Housemistress, I would also like to share how genuinely special these first weeks have been for me personally. I have loved getting to know each of the boys; their personalities, strengths, sense of humour, and the unique ways they contribute to our House spirit. The warmth with which they welcomed me, and their willingness to help me learn the “Carr way,” has made me feel not just part of the team, but truly part of the family. I am incredibly proud to be leading such a thoughtful, lively, and generous group of young people.

One of the highlights of the term so far has been the House Volleyball and Table Tennis competitions. The boys trained and played with real commitment, supporting one another and demonstrating impressive teamwork. Their determination paid off, with Carr performing exceptionally well in both events. Whether cheering from the sidelines or competing on the court, every student contributed to the shared sense of pride and achievement.

Our efforts in the House Music competition were equally inspiring. The boys approached rehearsals with enthusiasm (and plenty of humour), working together to create a performance they could all be proud of. Their final performance was joyful, united, and full of heart.

We also extend our congratulations to several Carr boys for their individual achievements. Afham placed 2nd runner-up at the World Schools Golf Championships in Edinburgh and St Andrews; an outstanding international result. Yuqin earned a strong 8th place finish in the Navy Open Fencing Championships, demonstrating both discipline and resilience. And we are very proud of Qaim and his brother Qaid (Year 11) for leading a “grocery drive” to collect food items for local families in need. Their compassion and initiative reflect the values we aim to nurture here in Carr.

Perhaps most meaningful of all has been the warm welcome extended to our new Carr members. The boys have gone out of their way to include them in games, routines, and daily life, ensuring everyone feels at home.

We look forward to the term ahead with great excitement. Well done, Carr boys; keep it up!
