Drinks Reception celebrates Malaysian venture

Following a high profile groundbreaking ceremony on Monday this week, Epsom College hosted a Drinks Reception to celebrate the official launch of its new sister school in Malaysia, to be built at Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLEC) in Bandar Enstek.

Headmaster Stephen Borthwick and Old Epsomian Tony Fernandes, Chairman of the Governors of Epsom College in Malaysia, welcomed guests to the reception, held at the Hilton Hotel in Petaling Jaya.

Some 80 guests, including Old Epsomians living and working in Malaysia and prospective parents were eager to learn more about the new school and to meet the project team involved in the development of Epsom College in Malaysia.

In his speech, the Headmaster thanked everyone for their generous support of the project and emphasised the importance of maintaining links between the growing Epsom College communities. Tony Fernandes spoke of the excitement the project had generated in Malaysia and of his own personal sense of achievement in seeing another dream come to fruition. He said he looked forward to the completion of the project and the opening of the new school in September 2010. He was particularly enthusiastic about widening access to Malaysian families who might otherwise not have been able to benefit from an Epsom education.
