Lunchtime Live, 28th November
30 Nov 2018
The Lunchtime Live concert on Wednesday 28th November was performed in the Theatre Studio, featuring a number of our GCSE musicians and other pupils who are preparing for instrumental exams.
Shiva opened the concert with a jazzy performance of the famous Take Five, an awkward piece with an irregular time signature and some virtuosic solo passages that were handled calmly. Ashley followed on the piano with a sensitive rendition of All Is Calm, creating an atmosphere that was fully evocative of the title. Ally is preparing for a cello exam this academic year and she performed the Bourree’s from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 with confidence and musicianship, shaping the phrases well and showing good bow control.
Aqiel continued the atmosphere of classical calm with the 3rd movement from Mozart’s Sonata in C major that was well shaped in its Rondo passages. Jack followed with a lively rendition of Case Closed, which was an invigorating mix of blues and rock, before Taranie closed the concert with Prelude from Corelli’s Sonata in A minor which was executed with aplomb.
Congratulations to all pupils involved in the concert for their hard work in preparing these pieces for the audience to enjoy a relaxing lunchtime of music.
