Issue 64 : Collaborative Language Day

18 Jan 2019

‘To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world’

In December, Alice Smith International School hosted a Collaborative Language Day for KS5 and KS4 students of French, Spanish, Mandarin and Bahasa accompanied by Ms Seti and Mr Pedro. This collaborative language day, organised amongst six International Schools in Kuala Lumpur, provided our linguists with a great range of activities and opportunities to learn more about languages and gauge their personal linguistic skills by using foreign language in real situation with other fellow students in KL.

The various workshops offered were on the theme of Cultural Diversity with a focus on examination skills. This was undoubtedly invaluable at this level of their language learning journey, and we are glad that all the students left with a feeling of accomplishment and confidence. In addition, it helps to nurture positive relationships  among students through the exchange of ideas providing opportunities to master techniques for the IGCSE exam paper.

We hope students will be given this opportunity again as languages form an important integral part of the academic and personal developmental framework in all schools.
